Fusarium Damping-Off: Caused by Neocosmopara solani (formerly Fusarium solani) this disease affects seedlings, causing them to either fail to emerge or collapse shortly after germination. Symptoms include stem girdling, stem rot, and root rot. Fusarium damping-off is more common in cool, damp soils where plant establishment is slow. While Fusarium is a primary cause, other pathogens, such as Rhizoctonia sp., Pythium spp., and Phytophthora sp., can also contribute to damping-off in seedlings.
